is lightweight but has outstanding strength
AAC weighs as little as one fifth the weight of standard concrete products.
Reduced weight makes AAC buildings easier to design and less strenuous to
build. In spite of the lighter construction, AAC is very strong. An 8-inch AAC
block has greater compressive strength than a standard CMU the same size, due to
the solid construction of AAC. AAC structures have withstood earthquakes in
Japan and hurricanes in Florida when other buildings were reduced to rubble.

AAC materials contain millions of tiny air cells that provide outstanding
thermal insulation. Heating and cooling costs may be reduced by as much as half.

The tiny pockets of air in AAC provide dead air space that stops the transfer
of noise. An 8-inch AAC walls has an STC rating of 50. Over 100 miles of
highway sound walls have been built with AAC. Hotels, schools, theatres,
apartment buildings and homes also benefit from noise reduction

AAC is noncombustible and transfers heat very slowly. As a result, fire
ratings of up to one hour per inch may be achieved. This feature makes AAC an
excellent choice for fire walls, elevator shafts, hotels, schools, and any
application where fire codes must be met or safety is desired. The use of fire
rated materials may reduce insurance premiums.

This remarkable material can be cut, drilled, cored, chased and shaped on
site. Dimensional accuracy adds to the ease of construction, with block
tolerances within 1 mm. Product features such as tongue-and-groove, keys for
rebar installation, pre-cut cores, and lifting hooks are available to aid in the
construction process.
